About the role

We are looking for community ambassadors from the following communities; South Asian, Black African and Caribbean, Polish, Eastern European and Latino, to help us in our mission to reduce inequalities across multicultural communities in the UK.
You’ll work on a range of campaigns, from Adoption, Diabetes Prevention, Help Us Help You Cancer Barriers, Mental Health, Violence Against Women (Enough) amongst others
Role
This is a fixed short-term, paid role working in key cities and towns across the country, from Bristol to Bradford – areas with large multicultural communities. You’ll have the option to work in your city or town, or travel to other areas where we need to engage the communities there.
The role will involve:
Distributing materials (e.g. leaflets and posters) in community spaces
Distributing digital assets via your networks and digital channels (e.g. social media, websites, e-newsletters and WhatsApp groups)
Conversing with community members on the ground
Identifying alternative methods by which to raise campaign awareness
Working in a local team with a team lead providing support
Requirements
1.1. Experience working with at least one or more of our target communities – South Asians, Black Africans and Caribbeans, Polish, Eastern Europeans and Latino
1.2. Ability to use networks, and a range of digital channels, as routes into target communities
1.3. Multilingual to ensure communication with the target communities
1.4. Good communication and team working skills
1.5. Project management and customer service skills
1.6. Literacy, numeracy and photography skills
1.7. Age 18+
1.9 DBS registered
1.10 Driving license desirable
Reporting
1.1 Participating in check-in sessions to ascertain what has been delivered, engagement levels and feedback from the community
1.2 Participating in a final de-brief to ensure all activity is captured

As a community advocate you will play a vital role in engaging with members of the public to better understand what behaviours constitute honour-based abuse. These range from forced marriage to Female Genital Mutilation, virginity testing and more general behaviours including assault and coercive and controlling behaviour where honour is the motive. You will also be working to signpost support that is available for victims or potential victims. Your passion for social impact and your strong communication skills will be essential in quickly building meaningful connections that help drive positive social change.

This is a voluntary role with expenses covered (up to £2500) over a 6 week period.
